When you think about the bridal hair styles, you must also consider the style of your dress. Some dresses require that your hair is up, while some will look just great with loose hair. So, look at your wedding dress. Is it with an oval and generous neck line? This will look great with some bridal hair styles that will keep your hair up and possibly some loose curls that will surround your face. In case the neck line of the dress is simple, this will go just fine with loose hair. Beyonce Knowles Elegant Hairstyle, For Glamorous Look in 2010

Beyonce's Elegant Hairstyle, For Glamorous Look in 2010

The world can’t seem to get enough of Beyonce Knowles. She has achieved monumental success over the past several years, and has always sported cutting edge style. One of the most notable aspects is the Beyonce hairstyle, which women across the globe try to imitate.
Beyonce's Elegant Hairdo

One of the most popular Beyonce Knowles hairstyles is the one she had at the New York Cadillac Records premier. This style featured long layers, which were cut in such, a way that the waves were carried through right to the tips. It is perfect for any height and any face shape. If you want to create this style you will need a radial brush, and a curling iron or some hot rollers. Be sure to apply a bit of styling mousse when your hair is damp, to help keep the style in.

Use a larger radial brush to blow-dry your hair. Remember to part your hair into sections and always start at the back. Blow from the top until you reach the ends, where you will blow from the bottom. To get the curls you can use a curling iron or rollers. If you are using hot rollers, remember to arrange the side ones in a vertical pattern. Leave in until the rollers have cooled down. When you are done, apply some smoothing shine and comb through gently to achieve the waves. The key to this Beyonce Knowles hairstyle is to get the waves right. If you follow these steps you can create the style in no time.

Overall Beauty Sale Haul!

Eeek they're here! I'm been dreaming about these nonstop since I first saw them and now they're finally here! *squeal* (Click these suckers to enlarge, they're ginormous!)

Kelly's Green, Redwood Forest, Vampy Varnish, Mendocino Midnight, Union Square, Napa Valley Red. OMG SO HOT

These are Kelly of Vampy Varnish's personal creations! Check out her swatches!

These came along for the ride as well:

Studio 54, Saturday Night Fever, Hard-On Nail Strengthener, Top Rock Topcoat.

Studio 54 almost seems a little frosty, Saturday Night Fever looks like it could be twinny to Emerald Sparkle. I'll admit, I only bought Hard-On for the name and Top Rock because it's scented. Heh.

Looks like they made the bottles smaller, as you can see in the second picture. They're .5oz now instead of .6oz.

I can't wait to try all of these on. OMG I'm so excited. SO MANY GREENS!!! SO MUCH GLITTER!!!! The colors, Duke!

Christmas Continues!

This year was my first year participating in the ornament exchange from the Circle of Sheltie Friends message board. It is sort of organized like a Secret Santa ... except it's not really secret and you exchange Christmas ornaments instead of presents.

Today, our ornament arrived from Binx and his owner!

So cute! I love the personalized snowflakes. Thanks so much Binx!!

Hairstyles In 2010, Try Something Different

Hairstyles In 2010, Try Something Different!

If you want to see some great hairstyles that add a little spunk to your life, there are plenty of examples of celebrities wearing them today.

Take a look at Halle Berry in her pixie hair cut; she has a beautiful glow about her that accentuates her eyes and high cheekbones. It gives her an innocent and sassy look that adds spunk to her image.

Another celebrity that has pushed the envelope in fashion this year is Pink. Her platinum blonde fringe hairstyle that she is wearing for her Funhouse tour adds a sexy element to her explosion of fun image for the tour. She has really made a gorgeous look work in some spunk as well.
Adam Lambert Emo Like Hairstyle

On the men’s side, take a look at Adam Lambert from American Idol, he has taken the Emo look and added his own spunk. He is a great singer, but he has also made the Emo look much more popular this year. The use of his bangs and shorter cropped sides is a perfect example of the innovative way that stylists are using bangs this season. He is clearly a spunky fashion icon this year. And this style will be carried into 2010 for sure!

And who can forget the looks of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in the Twilight series movies. They have added spunk to the vampire scene without question! And they have inspired a generation of teens to follow their high-fashion images! Pushed up spikes that make them look like flame-topped perfection for the ladies has made these stars the most sought after look this season.

Natural Wedding Hairstyles

Natural Wedding Hairstyles
Natural Wedding Hairstyles
Natural Wedding Hairstyles
The African- American hairstyles are sophisticated from the very start, because of the extra volume and texture they have. Leaving it loose, in its natural way, the African- American hair can look really hot with a simple hair accessory in it, a flower or a hair jewelry. The curls make it a wild, attractive look and the most easy to style, low maintenance hairstyle from all of them. You don't need touch-ups, or extra holding hair styling products. Just believe in your natural beauty and charm with your native glamor. The good part in the African- American hairstyle, is that different haircuts, can make very different looks. You can opt for the extra short haircuts, medium haircuts that can be shaped in any form you want to in case you want an edgy look, or long haircuts that will make gorgeous curls if you use the proper hair care products.

A polish I really like - China Glaze Afterglow

China Glaze Afterglow. I found this polish in my stash a couple weeks ago. I was moving all my China Glazes into an Ikea Helmer, attempting to sort them vaguely by color. That's when I saw it. I didn't even know I had this. I don't think I've ever worn it. It's a shame, cause it's SO FREAKIN' COOL! It's a sheer polish with a milky nude-peach-yellowy pink base, which throws you off because it looks kinda funky. But the funny base isn't what shows up on your nail- it's the wicked blue iridescence! It has both a bright blue flash and bright blue shimmer particles. It looks electric. I can't stop looking at it. I think it would be amazing for layering over other colors, but I kinda like how this looks all by itself. This is three coats. I think one of the reasons I'm so drawn to this is that it reminds me of a polish I had in junior high. It was from Afterthoughts, remember that place? They sold cheap jewelry and did crappy ear piercing? Anyway, the name of the polish was Angel. Angel looked a bit like this (and a lot of other polishes, white with blue iridescence seems to be a popular theme).

So, there you go. China Glaze Afterglow. Cool polish.

You know... I really like doing random posts like this. I haven't had much time to sit and do 'real' reviews of collections lately (despite the fact that I have months worth of crap to post! Oy) and it really has me thinking.... Random posts are fun. Reviews feel like work, unless it's something I'm super-super excited about, and then it's fun.

And speaking of reviews, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do my full Nubar Prism review soon, as I STILL haven't seen the polishes in sunlight. It's been... what... a week? That's Chicago winter for you. I really wanted to see how much they sparkle in real sunlight and get some better pictures. I may just have to review them with my initial impressions. Hopefully I'll get a little sunlight before they come out and I won't have to do that.

I think that's all I wanted to say... I feel like I'm forgetting something. I don't know. *dodges avalanche of green slime*

If I don't get another chance to post before then, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! I know I will, I'm making rum cake.

Looking Back, Hairstyles Fall 2009, Natural Hair Colors Ruled

Looking Back, Hairstyles Fall 2009. Natural Hair Colors Ruled!

What was glamorous in Fall 2009? Lots of styles fit that bill! This was a year of hair experimentation that has yielded so many new styles and variations.
Short hair styles dominated the magazines and red carpets this Fall. Rihanna and Katie Holmes, while at different spectrums of the entertainment charts, displayed forward looking fashion sense in their short hair styles! Rihanna has dominated the short hair style for a while, but she took her look to a new level with some sharp angled, side-swept bangs that have become a new standard in the industry. And Katie just shocked everyone with her black-dyed, short style that took her from her living room to the red carpet with ease!

It was a wonderful explosion of color that mimicked the change in seasons this Fall as well! While natural hair colors dominated the scene, there were bold variations of platinum blondes to fiery reds and rich auburns along with highlight and lowlight accents! The word for it all was glamorous! Even Emo styles set forth by the Twilight movie series and the punk styles set forth by the likes of Avril Lavigne, were able to give all personalities a way to glam up their styles!

Even the teens got on the glam train when Miley Cyrus was seen with a long hair style that showed off her youthful, but sophisticated side on the red carpet this fall. We can expect to see the healthy, bouncy, and cutting edge styles that made their way into our magazines this Fall carry us boldly into 2010 in style!

Color Club Wonderland Minis Winter 2009

Holy crap. I just realized it's almost Christmas and I still haven't posted these Color Club glitters. I took these pictures BEFORE HALLOWEEN. Talk about backlog... I feel like I'll never be able to post all the things I want to post. Argh! Well, like I always say, better late than never. And there's no rule that says you can't wear green glitter after Christmas, so, there!

(These were sent to me by Color Club)

Under The Mistletoe. Let's just start off with my favorite. Green glitter, any surprise it's the one I like the most? Didn't think so. This is not generally what I think of for a 'mistletoe' shade, but it's still nice! It's a light yellowy silver-green glitter. The base seems tinted, but the glitter is dense enough to cover the entire nail with no problem. Very very sparkly.

Wonderland. Super sparkly light silver glitter. The picture speaks for itself. Uber-sparkly snowy silver glitter. Has a very bright reflective overall look. Not as dense as other silver glitters, this one would work well as a topcoat but it is dense enough to wear alone.

Yule Love It. Light red glitter in a light red tinted/jellyish base. Again, not the traditional red glitter Ruby Pumps close. I like it! This is a very pinkish red shade, almost more of a deep magenta than a true red. The base isn't as sheer as I had expected it to be, it's more of a jelly finish than a sheer tint. Lovely. Does double duty as a great Valentine's Day color as well.

Here's a quick indoor shot of them from the day I got them. That's Abracadabra on my middle finger.

The formula on these was good. The glitter was nice and dense, I did three coats of all and that was good enough coverage for me to be happy. They're a little on the thick side. Drying time wasn't lightning fast, but not what I'd consider long. Average for Color Club, but faster than the Glitter Vixens. The glitter does have a little grit to it and needs a coat of a nice thick topcoat but they're also not as gritty as the Glitter Vixen ones were. These are more of a slight bumpy finish than a scratchy gritty finish. Yule Love It is actually quite smooth for a glitter. This set also comes with a clear topcoat- I haven't used it so I can't really judge the formula.

Worth mentioning again, these are mini size, but they still have a decent sized brush. No stubby little OPI-Mini style brush. That's one thing I really like about Color Club minis, real brushes! And I just can't resist minis... they're too cute... Don't know what it is with me and mini things. Mini food, mini polish, mini perfumes... I'm just attracted to them like a magnet!

It probably goes without saying that this little set makes me squeal like a schoolgirl. Throw some glitter at me and I'll be singing your praises forever. I'm a total glitter ho.

Asian Hairstyles in 2010

Asian Hairstyles in 2010

Looking across the many styles that are available today, we have to give credit to the stylists and fashion industry in Japan who have repeatedly given the rest of the world innovative ideas. The Asian styles that are working the best right now have to do with using different length bangs with short hair to offer a wide range of options for different face shapes.

We can see the influences in style in all Asian-made cartoons, video games and movies. Many of the toughest shapes to flatter are round and diamond face shapes which we find many of in the Asian population. This of course is speaking in very broad generalities.

General or not, this year especially we have seen Asian influence on hairstyles in the Emo style. If we look at the wild hairstyles that are being sported by artists like Adam Lambert, you will have a good idea about what the Emo style looks like. His style is all about expressing his emotion and personality. And his stylist does that very well by keeping much of his hair short and keeping his top layers longer. Then it is possible to style his bangs and parts differently for a wide variation of looks without much effort!

More mainstream looks have caught on to this trend as well. Take a look at Mandy Moore or Katie Holmes and you will find the same type of short styles and use of bangs for so many of their new looks!

Another little super-quick Zoya Reverie preview

Just got some little swatches of Zoya's new Reverie collection- very interesting!

They all look duochromey/iridescent. Adina is by far the best, with a rich purple base and strong green/teal duochrome. Not a dupe of Ki, but similar feel to it. Best color I've seen in a while. Closest thing it comes to is Nubar Peacock Feathers, but it's not a dupe of that either. Very rich color.

Here's a couple quick shots of the swatches- hopefully I'll have the real thing to swatch soon! I know, they're blurry and glare-y, but I had like two seconds to take the pictures, sorry :(

Flash, shows the gold duochrome, click to enlarge.

Indoor ambient light, really shows the nice duochrome on Adina and accurate representation of the colors of the rest. Click to enlarge.

Closeup of Adina.

They all look pretty in person, but I'm most excited about Adina. It's awesome.

Long Hairdos, Winter, Summer 2010

Long Hairdos Winter, Summer 2010

When looking for long hairstyles that work for your hair, there isn’t much searching that needs to be done! Online pictures and information has made the search relatively easy!
Look up Jessica Lowndes at the Grammy awards this year for a formal look that creates elegance and grace. With her healthy, brown hair pushed up and back she elongated her oval shaped face. Jessica is lucky because her face has small features that love to be accentuated. She also wore the rest of her hair down her back. This gave her a very flowing, elongated, graceful look that the cameras loved!
Beyonce is no stranger to long hair; and she is versatile in her styles also. She has gone from straightened hair with bangs to wild curly hair on stage! She makes both look extremely sexy. Her secret is that her hair is naturally wavy so the wild, vertical curls she wears on stage are relatively easy for her stylist to create. But the straightened hair takes a lot of heat and relaxer, so she doesn’t do that very often. This is smart because she can keep her hair healthier without the use of many chemicals and heat treatments.
But if you are looking for real versatility, Mandy Moore is the woman to research! Mandy has gone from blonde to brown and from short to long styles with ease. And her square face shape is not an easy one to fit, so there is great hope for all women who are struggling with difficult face shapes of our own!
